Prophet - Non-Spoiler Review

I have had this book in my app for a little over six months, and I did not start to actually read it until last night. Here is the review I posted to Goodreads. I will elaborate on my opinions after posting, and will edit this post another time.

Prophet (Books of the Infinite, #1)Prophet by R.J. Larson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book was amazing. I was so involved with the plot, and there were surprises at every turn. R.J. Larson has molded such an amazing story. I saw the similarities to the stories of the Bible, and in a way I felt that it resembled the Bible. It brought new insights on certain subjects, which made me curious to search more about them.
I would recommend this book to anyone that enjoys books, such as Narnia.

This books was so interesting! I enjoyed the the main characters, the storyline. Everything just sucked me right in. My reason for saying "I would recommend this book to anyone that enjoys books, such as Narnia." is because it reminded me of Narnia, to a degree. I think R.J. Larson got inspired by C. S. Louis' writing. Perhaps she was trying to create a fun plot that was like the Bible, but then it is something all itself. This is a fantastic story, and now I have to find a way to get my hands on the next book(s)!!

All The Light We Cannot See - Brief Review

All the Light We Cannot SeeAll the Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I realize this book has been receiving good ratings thus far, but I must say that the book left me in an odd reader's position. I felt that the beginning took off at a pace that was much too slow for me. It did start to pick up, but that was much later. However, I did enjoy the latter portion of the book. All in all, good story, but it did not leave me with a feeling that I would want to read it again.

What We Cannot See - Wattpad Review

What We Cannot See - Wattpad Link
Writter by: KayDove - Wattpad User
The world we once knew is gone. Three-fourths of the world's population is dead or missing. The Remainders are slowly losing a grip on their sanity. Lissa's life, in the midst of the apocalypse, is in shambles.
She ran away to be free, yet when she is captured by an unlikely friend on her journey, she begins to feel just as trapped as before. Can Lissa sacrifice the new life she has built for herself for the lives of others?
Will the secret to everlasting humanity be found?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This is one of the current stories that I have started to read on Wattpad. So far, it has been quite intriguing. Most readers would say not to judge a book by its cover, but in that does not apply in this case. I am not all through it yet, but I take this opportunity to share what I thought of the first chapter(s).
The two main characters are Lissa and Ryce. This story switches between POVs (point of views), and follows each character as they try to survive. As the description states, they are amidst the Apocalypse, and everything is, basically, in ruins. The furtherest I have read is that Lissa got in the middle of Ryce and a mission he was doing, and his boss gives information concerning Lissa's identity.
I felt that Lissa might have been a bit TOO easily trusting to a waitress she meets at an old, run down, diner.  I felt that maybe Lissa should have been a bit more pre-cautious, considering her resent circumstances. I also preferred Ryce's POV over Lissa's and I think it had to do with how that chapter was written. It seemed more thought out. The story itself is amazing, and I look forward to reading it more.
Angel 'N Me - Review (Hopefully No Spoilers)
Angel 'n Me (Cherry Hill Series Book 2)Angel 'n Me by Ron Estrada
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Plot: As most continuing stories should, this plot followed a similar pattern, but at the same time it was it's own flavor of ice cream. As a creative writer, I made guesses to the plot, and I guessed one part correctly, but the rest was unpredictable. I enjoyed the plot. Evan's mental conversations with Angela gave it spark. Evan made it clear at the beginning that he was looking for a soul mate. Angela, being the girl he helped rescue from the drowning car, is sort of in limbo, I suppose. And like the book description says "Angel 'N Me will have you laughing between the tears."
Characters: As mentioned, the characters are not the same as the first book, but they still move you to feel whatever they are feeling. I enjoy Evan's thought pattern. They are similar to Josh's in the first book, yet entirely different, but it still brings emotion to the storyline.
So, what is the result to this equation? The book is a winner! I am anticipating the next book. And as if I were not dead serious about it being a movie while it. I was dead serious! This is another fantastic read, and it sends the message of forgiveness. Who do you need to forgive today?
Now I Knew You - Non-Spoiler Review (Hopefully)
Now I Knew You (Cherry Hill Series - Teen Supernatural with a sweet touch of romance Book 1)Now I Knew You by Ron Estrada
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
This is amazing!
Okay, so here are my precise thoughts about this book . . . I have never enjoyed a book this much! What intrigued me the most was that this story is Christ-centered, or Christian fiction. It is so eye-opening, funny, and heart warming. The characters are so vivid; I literally was seeing it as a movie in my head! (Directors and producers! You have got a winner right here!) This is book has several chapters posted on Wattpad.com, but I have a copy on my Kindle app.
Plot: Partially unpredictable. Every time I thought I would guess what would happen next, I got a curve-ball. The story was so well thought out. There were parts that reminded me of 'Heaven is for Real', by Todd Burpo. But that alright, because if I had not known about that book before reading this one, it would just confirm everything if I read it for the first time.
Characters: As previously stated, the characters were so vivid. You become fond of many characters as they are introduced, and each one of them leaves an impact, in their own ways. You feel their emotions; their pain, their gladness, everything.
I cannot say anything that I have not already said. This book is, WOW! I am so glad that I read it that I want to read it over and over. So do yourselves a favor and check this out!
The Black Stallion and the Lost City - Review
The Black Stallion and the Lost City
Steven Farley
When Alec and the Black are hired to work as stunt doubles in a film about Alexander and his horse, Bucephalus, they find themselves on set in the remote mountains of the Greek/Bulgarian border. Movie making involves a lot of waiting, so they set out for a morning of exploring. Chasing an elusive albino mare, the two find themselves caught in an underground river which drops them, half-drowned, beside a city lost in time.
Revered at first, they soon discover that they are intended as the entertainment at a horrific ritual . . . sacrifices to the legendary flesh-eating mares in the coliseum of King Diomedes.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I love The Black Stallion books; Walter Farley was my favorite author as a tween, and all through my teenage years. Though Steven Farley has the same skill to create a lovable horse story, the way his father did, I found this particular book a little hard to digest. Perhaps it was the way Steven painted the picture of this 'lost city' and all its inhabitants. Or maybe it was the fact that I do not truly enjoy books that involve rituals such as the one in this book. That aside, let's get on with the review.
Alec Ramsay and the Black were given the opportunity to portray Alexander the Great and Bucephalus in a a movie. With the fame of racing, and the mysterious black horse, Alec thought this would be a great chance for him and the black to get in the brighter spotlight. Which may or may not have been the best decision. The film location is set in an old ruin in ancient Greece, just across the river from what is known as the Acracia Resort.
Supposedly, this resort was on a members only type of thing, and once someone enters the resort, they are never seen again. Along with the Black his new friend, Xeena, Alec finds himself on the other side of the river, and lost in time. Lured by a mysterious, albino mare, the Black wanders away from Alec, in hopes of becoming acquainted with the mare. This is no ordinary mare. This mare is one of the flesh-eating horses that was tamed by the Greek hero, Hercules. When Alec and Xeena find the Black, they realize they are not in their world. As though even the time has changed, and something does not feel right about the water being offered as drink.
Alec and Xeena soon learn that the reason no one ever returns from this "resort" is because if they stop drinking this "water", they begin to grow old again. One of Xeena's relatives is living in the retched place. He helps them to escaped, but dies in the process, due to the three flesh-eating mares devouring him on the spot. Horrible, I know!

I suppose, if you enjoy books like Percy Jackson and the Olympians, this would be a book for you. I do not suggest anyone younger than (maybe) sixteen reading it. My 11yr. old brother started to read it, and he loves The Black Stallion as much as I do. These are his very words: "I think Steven Farley took it a little too far. I prefer the other Black Stallion book over this one."
