NEW RELEASE: SUCCESSION (QUEST FOR FIRE, BOOK #2) BY BRETT ARMSTRONG | REVIEW

Hello, Haven Invaders! Long time no see. I know, it has been a while since I posted anything that wasn't part of a virtual release tour. But with everything happening in the world and BTS in my life, I think we are all entitled to have some chill time.
I am so pleased to share this book with you today. It was released on October 6th, 2020, and it falls into a category of books I wish I shared more often. Books like this tend to be brushed aside or are so hidden among other books within similar genres.

Disclaimer before I let you read further:
I did receive an ARC of this book, from the author, but this does not have any influence on my honest, final opinion. I also bought a copy of this book, because supporting authors when I've loved reading their books is a heavy reason I became a book blogger. I have also included an Amazon affiliate link in this post. If you purchase the book with my link, I will receive a small commission, but won't give you any additional charges. And finally, I write my reviews straight to the point. I am not going to summarize the entire book when the description already takes care of that. That's just me.

SUCCESSION
QUEST FOR FIRE, BOOK #2
by BRETT ARMSTRONG
RELEASE: OCTOBER 6th, 2020
GENRE(S): YA EPIC FANTASY, CHRISTIAN FANTASY
AVAILABLE WITH KINDLE UNLIMITED!

The heir must prove his worth-or die trying.

Son of the Northern Realm's Defender, raised among the dwarves of Ordumair, Meredoch was anticipated to succeed his father. Some whispered he would bring the longed-for peace between Ordumair and their ancient foe, Ecthelowall. All of that changes when Ordumair's Thane is killed and Meredoch and his family are exiled. From prestige to poverty, the young boy must chart a new course.

As the years pass and the idol that was his father's legacy tarnishes, Meredoch's past resurfaces. An artifact of immeasurable worth to Ordumair is found. If recovered by the wrong hands, disaster would befall those Meredoch serves and cares about. Battling creatures believed only myths and racing against evil toward the prize, Meredoch must face the truth of his place in the world and claim his right of succession.

Succession (Quest of Fire Book 2)Succession by Brett Armstrong
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Succession is the second book in Brett Armstrong’s Quest for Fire series. This book is a quick read, and with the wild schedule I’ve been keeping lately, I’m genuinely pleased I could sit down and enjoy it to the fullest.
We follow a young Meredoch in this story. For those who have read The Gathering Dark (Book One), we remember this character introducing himself. But I’m not going to say how or when. You’ll have to read The Gathering Dark for yourself. This book shows us his life prior to those events.
I loved the interaction between Meredoch and his father, Sir Augustine. And with his best friend, Duncoin. And we see all of Meredoch’s hardships, and heartbreaks, as his life progresses. Each event molds him into Cinaed of Bracken.
Mr. Armstrong’s writing is so fluid. And the combined topic of Christian themes brings out the best in his work. I highly recommend the Quest for Fire series to readers who’ve read the Books of the Infinite series by R. J. Larson. And I cannot wait to see where this series goes next.
