Summary:
Nineteen-year-old Myla Lewis is loving life–she’s now a wife, mother, and Queen of the Thrax. Oh yeah, and being a super-powerful demigoddess who moves souls into Heaven or Hell doesn’t suck, either. In fact, everything is pretty much awesome. Until something craptastic happens.
Her honorary older brother Walker enters the Dark Lands, home to the rule-loving ghouls, and vanishes without a trace.
Now it’s up to Myla to solve the mystery of Walker’s disappearance. Of course, Myla likes interacting with ghouls about as much as elective dental surgery. To make matters harder, everyone thinks that Walker is simply taking a well-deserved vacation. But Myla and her Angelbound love, Lincoln, both suspect that a new criminal called the Viper took Walker in order to release Lucifer, the ex-King of the Angels and a bloodthirsty killer.
Long story short, Myla and Lincoln have only twenty four hours to rescue their good friend and stop Lucifer from taking over the after-realms. Even for them, this may be a too-tall order, especially when Lucifer’s mysterious past with Myla’s father threatens the very future of the after-realms.

This is probably going to be the most direct review I'll ever share.
The adventure continues. Oh Mylanta. Y'all are in for a treat! There was so much going on, but it all held together. Myla is ever the greatest. Walker was definitely one of my favorite characters throughout the series. His disappearance just had my totally like "Wait, what?" I mean, sure. It's in the description, but I totally was not expecting it to impact me as much as it did. And can I just point out Myla is the freaking best?! Lincoln's pretty great too. ;)
Bring Myla's father into the mix. Goodness. If I wasn't already a fan of this series, I would be falling even more in love with it and the characters now. It's so amazing.

AUDIOBOOK REVIEW:
The Dark Lands - Firstly, I am very familiar with this book already. I had the privilege of reading it prior to the books original publication.
I've mentioned this before, but I'll say it again: Listening to the audio version of a book that you're already familiar with gives the story a whole new experience. Since I already have a review for this book, I'll just share what I think of the audio.
Christina Bauer is amazing. This is her book so she knows how she wants the story told. Knows how she wants the characters to sound. She gives Myla the perfect amount of sarcasm tones, which I feel no other narrator could do that. I've listened to many narrators at this point, and I have my favorites. Christina Bauer, though she only narrates her own books, is high up in that favorites list.

About the Author:
Christina Bauer thinks that fantasy books are like bacon: they just make life better. All of which is why she writes romance novels that feature demons, dragons, wizards, witches, elves, elementals, and a bunch of random stuff that she brainstorms while riding the Boston T. Oh, and she includes lots of humor and kick-ass chicks, too.
Christina graduated from Syracuse University’s Newhouse School with BA’s in English along with Television, Radio, and Film Production. She lives in Newton, MA with her husband, son, and semi-insane golden retriever, Ruby.
