From a USA Today best-selling author comes a standalone in the Sweet Sin series. The lives of Dean Wagner and Tatum Fields have been ruled by the hand of fate. The past six years of my life have been consumed by guilt. Since we lost Landon to a fire, I’ve done everything in my power to protect my daughter, Leila, from finding out the truth about how her twin brother died. Nothing in my life means more to me than her. Not my band, not my reputation. Nothing. Until I see Tatum, the woman I saved on the beach the same night she dealt with a loss of her own. The daily routine I’ve settled into is what keeps me going. Work at my chocolate shop, pay the bills, repeat. I don’t date. I don’t trust. And I have never forgotten the man who walked away from saving my life without allowing me to thank him. I know how to reach him, but I avoid him at all costs. Until fate decides to make another appearance. This is a story of how destiny ends up bringing these two souls back together, and how fate, the word very little people believe in is really their friend, after all.

Where There’s Smoke by Kathy Coopmans
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Firstly, can I just say that I FREAKING LOVED this book? Well I did. I've had my eye on this book for a while, partially knowing what I should expect, yet I was completely unprepared. I totally cried at the beginning. Dean's pain broke me apart. I couldn't hold it in. Kudos to Kathy Coopmans for being such an amazing author, and for being amongst the few to make me scream in outrage at certain details. It all just worked well. I don't think that if Ms. Coopmans had written the story differently, that it would have the same affect. Maybe, maybe not. But every single drop of agony was so crucial. It made the outcome ever so sweet.
Dean's relationship with his daughter. She's older, but it still made me go "Awww!" And then add Tatum to the mix. *fans self* This is why I read books.
2 points I want to make;
1) Dean's voice could not have been played by anyone else. Lorenzo Matthews brought him to life.
2) Pained rockstars are my kryptonite.
I have no complaints about the audio. It was 1000%.
I strongly recommend this to anyone who loves a good heart-jerker. Literally, its a jolt right to the heart. And you will love every minute of it.
