#HaddiesHaven: Never Tear Us Apart & Never Let You Go by Monica Murphy | @MsMonicaMurphy #NAlit #Romance #Suspense #Review

Hey Haven Invaders! I do not remember if I ever shared actual reviews for this duet (series) before now. If I have, I don't care. These books deserve a major spotlight. I love Monica Murphy's books. This is the series (duet) that got me into her writing. I bought both of these books. I own the first in e-book, and the second in paperback. But my plans are to get the first book in paperback, and the second in e-book. My copy of the second book is used, but I can tell it was given a lot of reading love.

A little side note: I did not mark these books as read last year when I read them, but I remember my exact reactions so clearly. I will refrain from shouting any spoilers, in case any of you have not read these books. I will give more detail about the first book, but not the second.

Never Tear Us Apart
(Never #1)
Released: January 5th, 2016

Perfect for readers of Colleen Hoover, Jay Crownover, and K. A. Tucker, the first novel in this darkly sexy contemporary series from bestselling author Monica Murphy kicks off an emotionally powerful two-part tale of forbidden love.

A long time ago, when I was fifteen and a completely different person, I saved a girl’s life. I spent only a handful of hours with her, but somehow, we connected—and I’ve never been the same. No one understands what we went through. No one knows what it’s like to be us. We survived, yet I don’t feel like I’m really living—until now. Eight years later, I find her. I want to make her mine. I need to make her mine.  But she’ll hate me forever when she finds out who I really am.

This book had me in tears. Rape is not an easy topic to discuss, nor is it easy to write. But Ms. Murphy does an amazing job to capture the essence of the victim and her thought patterns. She also captures what it is like for the rescuer to feel completely on the fence about what people will think. Will/Ethan, being the son of Kat/Katherine's molester, he is conflicting. He is definitely drawn to Kat in a way that he cannot understand. The situation just makes it all wrong. But so right.

Switching back and forth between the younger version of the characters to the NOW version of the characters is so . . . It's heartbreaking and suspenseful. I was glued to the book while reading it. I actually read it a few times. Because when I was reading it, I didn't have the second book to jump into. I think read this during the week of my birthday (first week of June, last year) and I remember I had saved a nice piece of strawberry cheesecake. Have something sweet and some tissues handy. You're gonna need it.

Never Let You Go
(Never #2)
Released: May 3rd, 2016

The second novel in this darkly sexy contemporary series from bestselling author Monica Murphy wraps up an emotionally powerful two-part tale of forbidden love.

The truth hurts, they say—and my pain cuts deep. While I was falling for Ethan, he was deceiving me the entire time. He held a huge secret, protected by his lies. When I discovered what he was hiding, the truth shook my world, threatening to ruin us forever. Ruin me. But I soon realized that what we share can’t be destroyed.

The connection between us is too strong. It always has been. I can’t deny him any longer. And I can’t deny my truth: I’m in love with Ethan.

I don’t want to let him go.

While we’re trying our best to make this relationship work, other forces are fighting against us. My family, who wants to keep me safe. The media obsessed with my tragic past. The public that feeds off of it. Even Ethan’s father—the man who nearly destroyed me all those years ago. He’s doing his best to finish the job.

Despite my love for Ethan, the doubts creep in, clouding my mind. Is he worth the pain? Will our love survive, or will we have no choice but to end it—end us—once and for all?

The first book ended on such a cliffhanger. I kid you not, it took me a whole two months to get my hands on the second book. The moment it arrived, I could not put it down until I got my answers. This book only made me love the characters even more. Not counting the villain. He gave me the creeps, because there are actual people out there that do this and . . . If you one of those girls that has had something like rape happen to you, don't hold it in. Tell someone about it. I'm saying go to the media. I'm just saying don't hold it in and not let someone try to help you.

The conclusion was definitely closure for me. It did have another cliffhanger, not in my opinion. Because that sometimes happens where a book is technically over, but they leave hanging with some unanswered questions. I didn't feel that with this book. Yes, I still would like maybe a little short story so I can see where the characters are now. A silver lining at the happy life they can finally have. But I wasn't left hanging. I call dibs on Ethan (Will), just to let you know. He wears glasses. Who doesn't love a hot guy with glasses?

Below, I've linked some of Monica's books for you to check out. I do have reviews for some of them.
