#Review: Life After Juliet by Shannon Lee Alexander | #Giveaway @shanlalexander @chapterxchapter

Life After Juliet
Shannon Lee Alexander
Release Date: July 5, 2016
Genre: Contemporary YA

Becca Hanson was never able to make sense of the real world. When her best friend Charlotte died, she gave up on it altogether. Fortunately, Becca can count on her books to escape—to other times, other places, other people...

Until she meets Max Herrera. He’s experienced loss, too, and his gorgeous, dark eyes see Becca the way no one else in school can.

As it turns out, kissing is a lot better in real life than on a page. But love and life are a lot more complicated in the real world...and happy endings aren't always guaranteed.

The companion novel to Love and Other Unknown Variables is an exploration of loss and regret, of kissing and love, and most importantly, a celebration of hope and discovering a life worth living again.

DISCLAIMER: I received an e-galley of this book in exchange for an honest review, in honor of this blog tour. Be sure to click the button/logo at the of this post so you can follow the rest of the tour!

Let's take a moment to admire the friendships we have and cherish. You never know when they are not going to be in your life anymore, but you most definitely cannot live without going after one thing or another.

Can we also take a moment to enjoy the fact that Becca is a bookworm? At the mentioning of Jane EyreThornfield Hall, and Mr. Rochester, it was easy to fall into Becca's head when she makes references. Becca makes many other references, and they help us to see how she views life. Becca often goes into a . . . I suppose you can call it a black hole, because every time she thinks about, or remembers, Charlotte, she closes in.

Maximo, Max, is introduced fairly close to the beginning. One can automatically assume he is important, and Becca has the memory her and Charlotte being in the class with him a year before. I really like how they first start talking to each other. Yes, Max does offer condolences, but that was before. This particular encounter is rather . . . intriguing. >>>> Okay, maybe accidentally falling face-first into a guys lap is not ideally the best way to strike up a conversation. <<<<

My Rating: 5 of 5 Stars.
I cried quite a bit in the beginning. Not just because Becca was close to Charlotte, but because I am a hopeless romantic when it comes to older brothers who lose their girlfriends. Charlie seems like a cool older brother, and he definitely helped Becca make an important decision in the end. And Max, dear Max; he became a favorite right from the start. This is a truly touching story, one I can prove everyone can enjoy. Shannon, you really had me rolling towards the edge of that cliff for a moment, but it was definitely worth it.
